Answer

Best practice:

For extra security and to avoid confusion in users, we recommend disabling any login method that your organization does not use. For example, disable username/password and Google authentication when your organization only uses SSO connection(s).

Audience

This guide is intended for Tango portal admins or users with Manage Authentication rights. The Manage Authentication right is not enabled by default. See Default user roles in Tango portal to see how you can enable it for yourself.

Choose the right environment and URL

You may create users in either the Tango production environment, the Tango sandbox environment, or both. The Tango production environment is the platform you will use to send rewards to your recipients. The Tango sandbox environment can be used to test your setup before going live in the production environment. Tango Sandbox doesn’t use live funds to send rewards:

Select a login method for your Tango portal

As a Tango portal admin with Manage Authentication rights you can select one or a combination of the following login methods that best suits your organization:

MethodDescription
username and password
Google account
  • Allows you to Sign in to Tango portal using your Google account. If you have signed in with Google for the first time after registration, you need to use Google again to sign in. When you click Continue with Google, you may need to authenticate your account through MFA.

  • MFA is required for this method. See how to Manage MFA (Tango portal admins).

  • For Google account login, see Sign in to Tango portal

SSO
  • Allows you to log in to the Tango portal with the Identity Provider (IdP) authentication. To use SSO successfully, each user must have an entry with your company’s IdP. The email address for each Tango user profile must match the email address on the IdP claim. See Add SSO connection in Tango portal.

  • If you Sign in with SSO, you CANNOT reset your passwords through the Tango portal. You must reset and maintain your Tango user password through your IdP platform and configured by your organization's IdP admin.

  • MFA is optional for this method. See how to Manage multi-factor authentication (for Tango portal admins).
