Templates in Tango are pre-configured layouts that streamline the process of sending rewards. They help ensure consistency, reduce manual errors, and save time by storing your preferred reward settings.
Tango uses dynamic tags as placeholders in its templates that automatically populate with personalized information when a reward is sent. Common tags include {{recipient_name}}, {{message}}, {{from_name}}, and {{reward_link}}. These tags allow you to customize each message without manually editing content for every recipient. For example, using {{message}} in an email template lets you insert a unique message for each recipient during a bulk upload. Dynamic tags enhance personalization, improve engagement, and streamline large-scale reward campaigns. See Use dynamic tags in digital templates for more details.
Template categories in Tango
Tango templates can be categorized by how the reward is delivered:

Digital Templates
Deliver rewards via email or text. Ideal for fast, automated delivery to recipients. Digital templates enable organizations to tailor the recipient experience with customized branding, logos, and dynamic content. See Create digital templates . To preview templates, send a test message, and edit or delete templates, see Manage digital templates .

Print Templates
A physical reward delivery option where a letter is mailed to US recipients containing a URL, redemption code, and instructions on how to claim the reward. Though delivered physically, it provides access to a digital catalog of gift cards, prepaid cards, and donation options, and can be configured to include plastic gift cards. Recipients can redeem the full value on one brand or split it across multiple brands. Businesses can customize the catalog and branding of the Printed Reward Link, and send them via the Tango portal or API. This option is ideal for recipients who prefer or require physical mail delivery.

Bulk digital and printed rewards
A streamlined process that allows organizations to distribute rewards to multiple recipients efficiently using a single upload. Whether sending digital rewards via email, text messages, or Printed Reward Links, users can prepare a bulk order by filling out an Excel template with recipient details, reward values, and template IDs. The file is then uploaded through the Tango portal supporting up to 2,000 recipients per file. This method is ideal for large-scale campaigns, offering flexibility, personalization (via dynamic tags), and support for both digital and physical delivery formats. For more than 50,000 rows and more information, see Send bulk digital and printed rewards with Tango.

Template types in Tango
There are different types of templates in Tango: Standard templates cannot be edited or deleted, whereas custom templates are fully editable and tailored to your needs. A default template is the one automatically applied. See more details below:

Tango Card Standard Template (E000000)
A built-in, system-provided digital template to act as the default fallback when no custom digital template is selected. It ensures consistent delivery and formatting, and cannot be edited or deleted. See Create digital templates .
Default template (user-defined)
User-defined, default templates help standardize reward settings across teams. You can set a default template for your entire platform, a specific group, or an individual account. It’s automatically applied when users create new reward orders (unless they choose a different template). It can be edited or replaced by admins.
A default template can be a custom template overriding the Tango Card Standard Template only when selected. If no custom default is set, Tango uses the Tango Card Standard Template (E000000)—a built-in, non-editable email template—as the fallback. See Create digital templates .
Custom Templates
User-created custom templates (typically by admins) that allow full customization of reward delivery content, including branding, messaging, and layout. Admins can create multiple custom templates for different use cases (such as campaigns or departments) and assign them to specific users or groups. These templates can include dynamic tags for personalization and can be reused across reward orders. Custom templates can be marked as default for the platform, group, or account.
